Never assume your site files are all safe and secure at your host! Anything can happen and your whole site could be lost forever. I keep a backup set of my site files on my desktop as well as backing them all up on CD. To get a copy of all your site files on your desktop, simply go into your FTP or your cpanel at your host and download or copy your site files to your desktop. Once you get them on your desktop it is easy to put them all on CD. You should do the CD backup once a week or anytime you make any major changes to your site. I always make the change on my desktop and then upload the changed file to my host. If you do your site changes from your cpanel, make sure you also make those changes on your desktop files.
